Daily Habits of Happy People: Week 2

Because October is my happy month, I decided to share my take on an article I read titled 10 Daily Habits of Exceptionally Happy People. Now, there are a lot of these lists out there, but this one has thus far been my favorite. I consider myself a relatively happy person to begin with, but there's always room for improvement.

So, here are my thoughts on these daily habits, and I will share two per week. Read Week 1.

"I will not multitask during a meeting."

Now, I happen to believe this can apply to more than just meetings. Whether you're at work, in a classroom, or at a fellow author's book signing, it pays to pay attention. You'll learn more, you'll retain more, and you'll not have wasted your time. Besides, it's rude to draw attention away from the person who worked hard to prepare the event.

"I will not interrupt."

This is one I have had difficulty with for many years. I didn't interrupt because I was trying to be rude, but my mind automatically filled in bits of the conversation, so I would finish sentences. RUDE. Interrupting takes the focus away from the individual speaking back to you. What you'll end up with is someone who may not want to spend time with you in the future. Take the time to listen, be considerate, and ask them questions relevant to them. It doesn't hurt to not be the center of attention once in a while. Besides, people generally don't like other people who interrupt.
