Easter Welcomed Spring

In this part of the country, we don't always get spring weather after the first day of spring. A few years back I traveled with some family and friends from NW Montana to North Carolina. It was this time of year and a blizzard hit. A trip which normally takes a few hours took all day, and then we were stopped in Sheridan, WY for the night due to road closures.

It helps that I like the cold and inclement weather.

This year, spring has arrived in time for the Easter weekend. I spotted the first kayakers out for the season. I wanted to join them.

The weekend began with what I thought would bring a storm, but we ended up with sunshine. Of course there's snow on the mountains (there's usually always snow on these mountains somewhere).

But inside it was all about Easter brunch.

Then about the egg hunt.

And though I know my gardens will soon look like this.

I continued to look longingly at the mountains, sending out a wish for just a little more winter

Somehow I don't think that will happen.

Are you longing for summer or you hoping to hold onto the cold a little while longer?

  1. The photos in this post are beautiful. I live in AR so the weather likes to go back and forth from cold to warm...Grrr! My husband would love for it to be winter 24/7; however, I would love for it to stay warm. I don't prefer being cold. I hope you have a wonderful Spring.

    1. Hi Rose! I haven't had the pleasure of visiting AR, but I can imagine the back and forth weather would be frustrating. I'd have to agree with your husband--almost. I do like cool summer days and autumn. :) Wishing you a lovely spring too!

  2. I'm not a huge fan of snow, but I still find your pictures to be beautiful. I used to live in upstate NY and now live in Texas. In my next incarnation I'd like to live on a beach.
