A Reader's Opinion: ONCE A PRINCESS by Johanna Lindsey

Once Upon A Time...

In a rustic Mississippi tavern, a beautiful exiled princess was forced to dance for the pleasure of others--unaware of her regal birthright...and infuriated by a magnificent golden-eyed devil who crossed an ocean to possess her.

From A Far Off Land...

A bold and brazen prince came to America to claim his promised bride. But the spirited vixen spurned his affections while inflaming his royal blood with passion's fire...impelling virile Stefan Barany to take in sensuous and searing conquest the love Tatiana vowed never to yield.

A Reader's Opinion

I'm a fan of Johanna Lindsey, and when I need an escape or something easy to read, I often go back to one of her books. Once a Princess features two main characters that I happen to really like. Both headstrong and neither willing to back down, they make a great pair. The dialogue is witty and natural. The secondary characters are great, especially Stefan's guard.

There are some controversial moments with Stefan, and while as a person and woman I can't agree with his high-handedness, I don't believe the author's intention was to promote bad behavior. If you look beyond that to his upbringing and to who the character really is, you can see the actions for what they are . . . just an opinion. Personally, I thought the conflict was spot on and I'm glad neither Tanya nor Stefan gave in too soon or easily.

Lindsey's writing style makes for a nice and easy reading experience, and if you enjoy historical romance, I recommend her books.
