A Reader's Opinion: HEARTSONG COTTAGE by Emily March

The Book
Daniel Garrett is no stranger to heartache or tragedy. Haunted by the loss of his wife and son, he left the police force to devote his life to finding missing children. But he still hasn’t found a way to mend the wounds of his past—until he attends a wedding in the small town of Eternity Springs…and meets a beautiful woman who opens his heart to the healing power of love.

Shannon O'Toole isn't looking for romance. Ever since her fiance's death, she's thrown herself into her work renovating houses. But she can't deny her attraction to the sexy stranger she meets at a wedding. Daniel makes her feel things she hasn't felt in years—and one night in his arms has her yearning for more. But can Shannon trust a detective with her darkest secret? Is Daniel ready to take a second chance at love? In Eternity Springs, anything—and everything—is possible...

A Reader's Opinion
Heartsong Cottage is like a gentle breeze in a tumultuous world. I picked this book up because it made me think of Christmas, though I didn't get a Christmas vibe while reading.

This is the first book I've read by Emily March and it won't be the last! I really like her writing style, character development, and description of the settings. I felt as though I was there in the Colorado Rockies. I liked Shannon O'Toole all the way through. She's resilient, hard-working, and blends well with the other characters. I liked Daniel Garrett—a lot—up until one point in the story because of something he said. I find some actions easier to forgive than words. After that, I kind of liked him, but I lost all respect for him as a character, so that was a letdown, but I still enjoyed the romance.

The secondary characters are absolutely delightful, and I imagine the entire series would be worth reading. Some aspects of Eternity Springs is way too cutesy for my tastes, but the author did a great job creating the community and surrounding area. A big bonus is that the book is nice and clean while still offering up a sweet and believable romance culminating in a satisfying ending.
