"Discovering Peace": Review and Giveaway

Placing her baby girl for adoption isn't the mistake Ally is running away from, but everyone else seems to think it is. As Ally tries to move forward in her life, her past keeps pulling her back, and she wonders if she will ever find true love again. Only holding onto hope can help Ally find the peace she s seeking.

A Reader's Opinion
Discovering Peace is a sweet and heartwarming story. I was thrilled to have a chance to read this book because adoption is not only something that I strongly support under the right circumstances, but we've had a few adoptions in my family, so I have a soft spot for the subject. I know a part of my enjoyment of the book comes from that connection.

I didn't read the first book, but I feel as though
this was a stand-alone title, and the author did a great job of giving you enough back story so you aren't lost. I teared up in the first few pages, which is always a great sign. It was touching to read the story from both Ally's and the adopted parents' perspectives. I can't say that I cared much for the adopted mother's character, though I can't pinpoint why, but Ally was great, and I enjoyed her perspective the most. I did think that Olivia, the adopted mother, she showed amazing kindness at one point in the book. Riley, a character you meet later on in the book, was my favorite, and definitely worthy of Ally.

Ally goes through a lot, but she's tough, and despite her young age, she makes it through everything that life throws at her. The story is filled with one great lesson after another - all of them worth learning. Now, this book has strong LDS religious elements from start to finish, and I would say that it's geared entirely toward an LDS audience (which I am). Yes, others could get a lot out of it, but if you're not familiar with the LDS religion, then you may find a number of things unfamiliar or confusing.

This is a lovely story with a beautiful message about overcoming trials and the blessings that can come from adoption. I recommend it!
