Old Ships and Wandering Spirits: A Guest Post by Deanna Jewel with Contests

Welcome Aboard!
I’m excited you’re here! Gather around so we can chat and we’ll tour the ship in a few minutes. I love visiting the tall ships when I see them on our travels and my husband humors me as we walk the decks and visit below. Listen…close your eyes and imagine back 200 years ago on this very ship. I can almost feel the old crew as they swabbed the deck or forced their captives to walk the plank. A stroll below deck would make us privy to their secret chats about women and spoils as they enjoyed their rum from a handy jug. If we listen closely, we might even hear the tap of a peg leg above us as a pirate walked the deck at night.

In the photo above, you can see an orb beneath the bench at the table. I took this picture when we visited the Star of India in San Diego two years ago. The orb could be the spirit of a shipmate from years ago who just doesn’t want to leave his beloved ship. Let’s head back up to the main deck to enjoy the sunshine and perhaps a bit of rum in a Pina Colada! Because I love ships and castles, I had to write an historical romance that included all of this and more. I had fun writing about my characters aboard their ship as they sailed through storms and lonely nights but there were also a few heated nights in the captain’s cabin!

Grab your copy of No Turning Back to follow Nathan as he tracks a killer at sea while Vanessa enjoys her travels to purchase more Arabians for her stock. She breeds horses and becomes a respected owner of racers. I let you visit the castle balls and dance with royalty. Enjoy roaming the pages of my books. I love historical novels and anything to do with English history, including all those beautiful castles. No Turning Back takes place in London, 1778. I’m sure I’m not alone in daydreaming what it’d be like to walk through Hyde Park to be seen by others, ride in a plush carriage on my way to one of those balls held at an elegant castle and to wear a beautiful gown. Then there are the pirates and sea adventures with sword fights to win the woman…or kidnap her!

Yes, it’s all inside my book. I hope you grab your copy, only $1.99 for the e-format at your favorite online store and step inside the castles, the carriages or aboard the ship owned by my hero! *happy sigh* Below is the book trailer and more info is on the tab for my books. My characters are also reincarnated to the present in the sequel 200 years later…in Whispers at Ghost Point.

  10. I get seriously sea-sick, so while happy to look at pictures & ships from dry land, you won't see me sailing any time soon.

  12. Ladies, I'm glad you enjoyed touring the ship while you were here. In the story, Nathan has to maneuver the ship through a storm that threatens the lives of those aboard. I had fun writing the entire story but being with them at sea was fun. I found I could step into many scenes with my characters to have fun with all they did! Thank you for stopping in to read!
