Logan pass may be closed, and snow may cover the higher elevations, but that doesn't mean there isn't still plenty to see and enjoy in the park this time of year. October is my favorite month to visit the park. Although I was initially disappointed when the government shutdown closed the park, I do believe having to wait was worth it.
Without the summer congestion, driving through the park was a peaceful event. The colors brightened a dreary sky, and the autumn-scented air was relaxing.
Water, mist, mountains, and autumn colors = a perfect combination.
The water levels may be down, but that doesn't take away from the beauty. We passed a few adventurous types preparing to row their way into the lake.
By the time we were getting ready to leave the park, patches of blue sky began to break up the clouds. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect way to recharge and "get away."

ReplyDeleteI love the mist, too. Mornings are often misty up here this time of year, and I love to go walking early in the morning when the mist is thick.
DeleteHello MK. I loved your article and the pictures are beautiful. So many beautiful places that I can enjoy only in pictures. I did live in beautiful Jackson Hole, Wyoming tho for 6 years. It was beautiful there with the Tetons right there to see and beautiful lakes. I never wish to be rich and satisfied mostly with my stuff tho getting old, except need things fixed in my trailer for safety. But do wish I could go more. ReplyDeleteLovely to see you here, Maxie. I've enjoyed a few trips down to Jackson Hole, and it's a lovely place. The Tetons are so majestic, especially this time of year and in the winter. I feel the same way about wanting things. Sure, I'm like many where I wish for things, but every time I look at the beauty around me, I'm reminded that I have all I need, and what I don't have, nature's beauty provides.
