Morning Walk Along the Swan River

These pictures turned out surprising clear since I only had the camera on my Blackberry to take pictures this morning. Handling a regular camera while walking two leashed dogs is not easy. I like to take them walking where they can run instead of walk, but the river road is such a nice walk for me, and there are mile markers so I always know when I've hit the three miles, or if I have time for four before I head back home. The walks aren't long, but they're a nice way for me to start the day.

The views don't hurt for inspiring western stories either.

The annual Whitewater Festival is this weekend, and the river is looking good for it. I normally don't go because of the crowds, but this year they're adding rafting and a triathlon, along with activities for kids, so I thought it would be fun to take my niece and nephew to the events on Saturday.

Of course I could change my mind and head up to Glacier Park for the day . . .

Some of these are duplicated scenes, but it was too beautiful of a morning not to share.

  1. Great shots - what a way to start your day!! I like the comparison of the peacefulness of the river and then the chaos of the rapids.

    1. It helps the day to begin well and motivates me to get a lot done. :) There's a dam about halfway down the trail--the river suddenly goes from calm to rapids.

Beautiful! I lived in Montana for nearly two years and loved everything about the scenery. Thanks for sharing these pictures.
