Hi, my
name is Krista Kedrick and I’m an exhibitionist.
I know,
that’s not something you often hear from a writer but it’s a bit of an
addiction of mine to be in the spotlight. I have a nasty little habit of trying
anything once whether that be indoor skydiving, performing a wheelie on the old
4-wheeler or entering a pie eating contest – if I get to perform in front of
others I’m game.
So rather
than sitting up straight in my chair and typing out a professional-style
diatribe (something I am actually capable of) on why I thrive on writing why
it’s my passion to tell stories that make people laugh, cry, yell at the
characters, and fall in love right along with them, I have decided to kick my
boots up on the desk and embrace my gregarious personality.
I give
you Confessions of a Country Writer
or Country Lovin’ Writer, I haven’t
entirely settled on the title yet. This is the place where I post my videos
about relationships, family, dating, and my pet peeves. It’s good for a hearty
laugh, or at the very least a guffaw. http://www.confessionsofcountrywriter.com
It is also the place I offer my FREE audio book called The Dove House. It’s a historical western. I can’t quite call it a romance—it’s more like women’s fiction immersed in lots of love stories, struggles, and triumphs of a family who decided to capitalize on the booming cattle trade in Nebraska in 1874, in a town called Primrose. While I actually base it on my home town of Ogallala (Oh-gah-lah-lah), I knew that no one would be able to pronounce it unless they held a PhD in Native American Studies. But if you get a chance, Google Ogallala, Nebraska and read up on the outrageous and downright notorious, history. You will think Dodge City was just a quiet little hamlet compared to us.
This
audio book features me reading what I wrote about the Schuster family, the
enormous mansion they built on the Prairie, and what happens when Thomas
Schuster is gunned down in the street leaving Emma to fend for herself during a
time when women were thought of as inferior. Whatever will she do with such a
big house? How will she make the payments to the bank when she isn’t even
allowed to own property? And who in the heck is Belle St. Vincent, and what
exactly is her proposition for Emma?
I promise
I have experience in the audio recording business. I have an online broadcast
show where I talk to other authors, chat about publishing trends, and provide
you with entertaining tidbits from the news to help get those creative juices
flowing.
Take a
listen but if you don’t like to listen you can read on
http://www.wattpad.com/12770667-the-dove-house or my website
www.kristakedrick.com, where
I post the written story. Follow their family tale of the house that made
history, not only for generations of strong-willed women, but for a town called
Primrose.
This
mini-series will lead you right into my upcoming series The Doves of Primrose coming April 2013, and give you all the
history you need when you meet Lacy Weston, the great-great granddaughter of
Emma Schuster and current proprietor of The Dove House.
Coming Soon!
The Doves of Primrose: Lacy
Lacy
Weston, or is it Campbell? Hell her husband took off so fast he may as well
take his name with him.
She
is trying to run the historic family bed and breakfast out in the middle of the
prairie while coping with her desertion, trying to keep up with her two best
friends and oh yeah, the movie production that has landed in the middle of The
Dove House bringing former rodeo champion, famous actor and Lacy’s old flame
with it.
The
last thing Lacy needs…
Kyle
McClintock is back in Primrose to shoot his latest western blockbuster and to
see if the passion he and Lacy Weston had so many years ago could be reclaimed.
Yes, he had ulterior motives when requesting his old home town for the set, but
he may get more than he bargained for. Strange happenings, hot tempers and
Indian summer nights may prove too much for this cowboy.
I sure
hope you enjoy my country lovin’ romance as much as I love being a country
lovin’ writer. Now if
you will please excuse me I must go and belt out a Bonnie Raitt tune on the
karaoke stage.
Krista Kedrick writes
stories with the country way of life in mind. Yes, they have cowboys and
cowgirls, ranches, tractors, dogs, children and your occasional bar room brawl.
But in the end they are down home people who do the right thing and find a love
more powerful and promising than your everyday story. Because that’s how we
are. Everything is stronger, more passionate and longer-lasting.
I write from my home state of Nebraska
while living my dream life (well, almost). I have an amazing husband, two of
the cutest daughters on the Prairie and a Bassett Hound who teaches me the
meaning of the word “patience”.
