. . . will they be able to forgive and forget and prove that love really does conquer all?
The Reluctant Bachelorette by Rachael Anderson
What is your
favorite non-writing pastime?
Unknowingly cast as the bachelorette for her town’s charity event, Taycee Emerson wants out. Especially when she discovers her old teenage crush, Luke Carney, is one of the bachelors and it's up to the viewers--not her--to decide which bachelors stay or go.
Coerced into participating, Taycee does what any self-preserving girl would do. She launches a subtle attack on Luke’s good name with the hope of getting him voted off the show. Unfortunately, Luke's an eye-for-an-eye kind of guy, and when he discovers what she's up to, it means revenge.
But when their pranks go south, will they screw up any chance they have at a future together, or will they be able to forgive and forget and prove that love really does conquer all?
From the author . . .
Anything
outdoors. Wakesurfing (surfing behind a boat) is probably my newest favorite
thing to do. I'm also a fan of hiking, biking, and flying kites.
When did you decide
to take that step that made you a published author?
When
I finished my first book. I decided then that no way would I have spent all
that time writing for no reason. So I cleaned it up, asked a bunch of people to
critique it for me, and submitted. Then I totally lucked out when that publisher
wanted to publish it.
Do you have a favorite character in The
Reluctant Bachelorette? Who and why?
Yes,
Jessa. She's frank, no-nonsense, and a bit self-serving at times, but deep down
she's got a heart of gold. I love characters who make you weed through the
imperfect human stuff to find the good beneath.
What is your
favorite scene in The Reluctant Bachelorette?
The
one in the tree. Love the setting, the set-up, and the way it unfolds.
Is anything in your
book based on real life experiences or purely all imagination?
Real
life. I'm not nearly imaginative enough
to write pure fiction.
Do you share any
personality traits with Taycee?
Yes.
I'm a fan of jeans and T-shirts and have a jaded opinion of reality TV shows.
Do you have to be
alone or have quiet to write?
Yes!
Otherwise my sentences end up choppy, incoherent, and just plain dumb--although
that pretty much describes my first draft, so maybe I don't need quiet after
all.
What do you have in
store next for your readers?
I'm
currently writing a story for a compilation book with two other awesome
authors, Jolene Perry and Kaylee Baldwin. I'm thrilled to be doing this project
with them. We are each contributing a short Christmas romance and will combine
them into one book called All I Want. It should be a great holiday read
for anyone who loves romance and Christmas.
What type of hero
do you like best?
Handsome,
of course. Dry humor, definitely. And a guy who will fall hard for the heroine.
What type of
heroine do you like best?
Spunky,
slightly sarcastic, and strong-willed. To me there's nothing worse than an
insipid heroine.
If you could live
the life of any character in any book, which would choose and why?
None.
I'm rather fond of the life I have. Or maybe it's because I've already lived in
all my characters lives over and over and over again as I muck my way through
the revision process. Frankly, their lives are way too redundant for me.
Do you have a
favorite author? Who and why?
C.S.
Lewis, because he is beyond brilliant. I would love to have full access to his
brain for a day or two.
Is there anything
else you’d like to share with your reader’s today?
Thanks
so much for reading!
