Boy Who Dreams: An Interview with Author Cesar and Giveaways!

On tour now with his book Boy Who Dreams, please welcome author Cesar!

Tell us a little about yourself.

Well my name is Mike, I’m 32, Irish and currently living in Dublin.  I am the kind of person that is good at everything but great at nothing, meaning that I have a lot of interests, in the past it has been playing music for people or painting art for exhibitions but now it’s all about the writing.  I guess there’s so much that I would like to do, that I will need 3 or 4 lifetimes to achieve it!

Is writing a full-time career for you? If not, how else do you spend your work day?

I wish it was a full-time career for me, and perhaps in the future it will be!?  But for now my work day is spent studying as I took the decision earlier in the year to return to University and update my education.  Perhaps when that is done, I could possibly be a full-time writer?!!

Will you share with us a short preview of Boy Who Dreams?

Of course, readers can have a sneak peak on my Blog http://destinyawokenseries.blogspot.ie/p/prologue.html

Is anything in your book based on real life experiences or purely all imagination?

Oh most definitely it has elements of my real life experiences, one scene in particular where they visit a haunted graveyard at night, that is based upon a real event except the location was elsewhere than mentioned in the book, but the drawing of that place is based upon the real life experience I had.  In a way there is a sense of reality throughout the book, drawing into it real places and real beliefs and even some history.

Which character in Boy Who Dreams will be the most difficult to part with?

Well there are many characters who will come and go, within this first book in the series there are three deaths to deal with!  I guess all of these circumstances of death have been hard to deal with in the book and I found myself approaching each one differently, as people in life quite often cope with death in their own way, and perhaps some of those views of death are covered in the book.

Do you share any personality traits with Jordan?

Some People have said that I do share some similarities, but I think they are just looking at the ‘real life events’ included in the book, and assume from those that there are similarities.  However, in the second book to the series a character will develop with whom I would intend to be more like myself.

What kind of research was involved for Boy Who Dreams?

There was actually a fair amount of research, the book is based in Dublin and so some locations such as the ‘Hell Fire Club’ I had to visit.  Also the depth of the dreams that Jordan sees are true, meaning that, if you buy a dream interpretation book and interpret the dreams he has, you will come up with same/similar meanings which he discovers.  That took some reverse-engineering!!  Also there is a ‘spirit language’ used in the books which too had to be researched and developed.

What has been your greatest pleasure in writing this book?

This is my first fiction book to be published and it’s a big step for me, the pleasure I get is from people reading the story and enjoying it, it’s their comments that keep me going and inspire me onwards.

What do you have in store next for your readers?

Well I am currently working on the second book in this series which will be called ‘Boy at War’ and it will continue the story onwards, friends will become enemies and enemies become friends, amidst a world heading towards environmental chaos.  Their path will not only delve deeper into the spiritual world, but also launch their path into the cruel world and set into motion the fulfillment of other ancient prophecies.

How do you unwind after a long writing session?

One word > Coffee !!

When did you write your first book and how old were you?

Well I think I was about twelve or thirteen and wanted to write a story but it always seemed to follow the route of other books, so it was never completed but it would have been a YA fantasy book.  Although my mum tells me that I used to make my own anti-smoking leaflets to hand to people, but I guess that doesn’t count!!

Have you ever literally deleted or thrown away a book you’ve written?

Yes, more than one!!  Some of the earlier books I attempted to write were not very good and I decided that I could spend hundreds of hours trying to fix them, or I could, just walk away from them and never look back.

You’re spending one year living on a desert island – which three authors do you want with you?

I don’t know their names, but the world’s best authors concerning fishing, farming and boat building lol.

 The Author
Cesar has a very experienced background in the spiritual world. He was brought up in a Christian family, but branched out from that base as he got older, seeking answers about the world around him, and the spiritual world around him. In his mid-twenties dramatic events occurred in his life which challenged his very existence, but he learned from these experienced and most of learned that how that life is not just in our own hands. Now Cesar is a firm believer that everyone has their own path to walk in life, and part of that walk is all about the choices that you make. Some people choose a good life and some a wicked life, but most of us live the life in the middle, influenced by the world around us and our own upbringing, Cesar understands that life is simply not black and white.
